From serving four years active duty, the military influence is present in several paintings.  It is undeniable that there is an undercurrent of support for those who sacrifice so much for their country.  While not minimising the effects of the ugly side of human nature, in this instance the paintings are taken from the point of view of the ordinary soldier.  For example, ‘Life is Cheap’ suggests that every human being has the capacity to do bad things.
